Musical Experience

Mulang is a Chinese American music composer based in New York City. He specializes in composing orchestral and hybrid scores for visual media, and is currently the lead music supervisor for Splicer Films.

He is among the curated cohorts of the 2024 Vancouver International Film Festival AMP, and 2025 ASCAP Foundation Film Scoring Workshop Composer Spotlight programs, and his work has been featured in projects recognized at festivals such as the Swedish International Film Festival, New York Independent Cinema Awards, and San Francisco Arthouse Short Festival.

Mulang's music is characterized by its unique rhythmic drive and soaring, memorable melodies. His musical development began at the age of 3, learning to play the drum set and classical piano. He later expanded his skills to include guitar, jazz piano, and bass guitar, as well as music composition and production.

Having lived half of his life in the cultural mosaic of China and the other half in the diverse landscape of the U.S., his compositions are infused with a unique blend of influences. His works contain elements from varied musical genres, including orchestral, rock, jazz, and electronic music.

When not composing, Mulang loves to wander through art museums and explore local coffee shops!
