Music Composer

About

Mulang is a Chinese-American composer based in New York City. He specializes in composing orchestral and hybrid scores for visual media. Mulang previously served as the lead music supervisor for Splicer Films and the music director of the NYU Gala at the Apollo Theater.

He is among the curated cohorts of the 2024 Vancouver International Film Festival AMP and the 2025 ASCAP Foundation Film Scoring Workshop Composer Spotlight programs, and has contributed music to works recognized at festivals such as the Academy Award-qualifying Pan African Film & Arts Festival, Sundance Film Festival, the Swedish International Film Festival, and the New York Shorts International Film Festival.

Mulang's music is characterized by its unconventional nature, textural depth, unique rhythmic drive, and colorful harmonic language.

Having lived half of his life in the cultural mosaic of China and the other half in the diverse landscape of the U.S., his compositions are infused with a unique blend of influences. His works contain elements from varied musical genres, including orchestral, rock, jazz, and electronic music.

When not composing, Mulang loves to wander through art museums, explore local coffee shops, and make pottery!
